Miss Thriftway U-60 Unlimited Hydro live fire-up at the Vashon Island Thriftway 09/11/2015
The Miss Thriftway U-60 Unlimited Hydro live fire-up at the Vashon Island Thriftway 09/11/2015.
The Miss Thriftway of Washington State is an exact scale replica of the original Miss Thriftway, built in 1954-55 and destroyed in 1957 at the Governor's Cup race in Madison, Indiana.
Built by a group of Vashon Island hydro fans in 2003-2007, the new Miss Thriftway was put on display for one afternoon to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Vashon Island Thriftway store.
The Allison V-12 engine was fired-up once every hour; here's the 2:00 pm fire-up.
NOTE: the Allison V-12 was 1.710 cubic inches, not the 3-blah-blah-blah stated in the title. Don't know where that number came from although it's twice the real displacement... ;)
